Lectors participate in the Liturgy of the Word by proclaiming the Word of God at the Mass in a reverent manner.
Responsibilities include:
- Reading the announcements before Mass;
- Prayerfully reviewing the readings prior to the Saturday/Sunday/Holy Day Liturgy;
- Rearing the announcements before Mas;s
- Being part of the entrance procession;
- Carrying the Book of the Gospels if a deacon is not present;
- Proclaiming the first and second readings during the Liturgy of the Word, and reading the petitions if a deacon is not present;
- One lector is assigned for each reading in the scheduled Mass, when possible.
Any Catholic who has been confirmed may be commissioned to be a lector at Masses. High school students are encouraged to participate. A training session is required. If you are interested, please complete and submit the interest form below:
